"Mr. (name deleted),

Thank you for sending the information on your Talladega, Your car was sold new by Stengers Ford , 2901 South Dixie in Dayton Ohio. The Car sold new for $3022.99 that included 8 gals of gas for $2.48 cents. Your car was recorded one time as being owned by a Mr. (deleted), than later it was recorded as being owned by a Mr. (deleted). I am going to send you a copy of the factory invoice.

As to the 3 colors, you our right on that the Presidential Blue is the rarest of the 3 factory Colors. But as to a Yellow convertible. I have to this date never seen any factory documents as to a yellow Talladega convertible, there was how ever a Yellow Talladega built at the Lorain Plant for the President of Ford. Back in 1969, Mr. Knudsen. this Talladega is different not only in color as to other factory run Talladega's, But had many factory options not found on other factory built Talladega's. But one thing that could have taken place back in 1969, any one could have walked into a Ford Dealer that was in the know and ordered a complete front end for a Talladega and bolted it to a 68 or 69 Torino/Fairlane or Ranchero and made a cool looking street car, but the Vin. # and rockers would tell the real story. As to any suggestions, If your parts car is a factory big block car, you are ok, but as to the small block cars under the hood they our different than a big block as to shock tower bracing, battery tray placement and a few other areas that show up as you study them side by side. If you have any other questions, feel free to just ask and we will try and get you the right answer's. I am sorry it has taken so long to respond to this but I have been out of town. Good Luck with rare your Ford. Rick Ochs, rick2500@core.com

Talladega Rocker Panels Talladega Rocker Panels - Part 2

A few Torino/Fairlane owners have asked how the Talladega fenders were made ????? The front fenders were not just a die stamped fender, but in fact were the same stock 1968/69 Fairlane/Torino fenders that were just cut off in the front and a special formed end cap was welded and leaded In. Most of the Special front sections were stamped out at Fords # 1 Race Shop the great Holman& Moody Shop. As you can see from the pictures : Top : Is a NOS Talladega fender. Center : Is a used but in form stock 68/69 Torino/Fairlane fender. Lower : Shows the lead that filled the welded special end cap.

Note the side marker light. This was not used on the stock 68/69 Torino/Fairlanes as they had the light in the front edge of the fender. So to meet Federal laws Ford added the marker light to the special front T fenders. In the lower two pictures you can see the welded lip that was formed into the front fenders. It is not uncommon to find an original Talladega with a not so smooth seam where the front caps were installed. In my years of studying Talladega's, I have found that some of the front fenders to come off old Talladega race cars, the front fender end caps were in fact a bit narrower than the street T's.

Just a few tricks to make Ford's "Going Thing" Go just a little faster !!!!!!!
